19-point fourth quarter deficit too much for Carbon boys to overcome in loss

While the final score may not indicate it, the Dinos had their chances to beat South Sevier.

Tied 11-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Dinos looked to take advantage but a cold shooting spell in the second quarter sent the team into halftime down 30-19.

South Sevier, a class 2A school, took advantage with a 23-15 advantage in the third quarter on their way to a 67-55 win on Friday night at the CHS Gymnasium.

Carbon used a pressing defense in the fourth quarter helping to cut the lead down to nine late in the quarter. Carbon began to foul South Sevier to help stop the clock but the Rams knocked down their free throws to help secure the road win.

Brad Williams led Carbon High with 14 points, including two 3-pointers. Caden Sherman added 10 points and Preston Anderson had nine points.

Carbon High, 1-11 overall, will travel to Emery High on Wednesday, Jan. 8, for a game starting at 7 p.m. The Dinos will start Region 12 play on Jan. 15 when they travel to North Sanpete.
