Castle Country native returns home for banquet
Governor's Office Deputy for Community Outreach Michael Mower, an Emery County native, delivers the keynote address at last week's Carbon County Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Mower drew laughs and applause from the Castle Country crowd as he recalled his youth in the local area. Mower spoke of Price as an important piece of Utah's economic future before turning the banquet back over to host Nick Tatton. In addition to Mower's address, the Chamber honored several board members and businesses for their 2013 accomplishments. Children's Justice Center Director Shelly Wright also spoke during the Jan. 16 banquet, detailing the justice center's progress and thanking those in attendance for their ongoing commitment to Castle Country youth. During the banquet, a silent auction was held with all proceeds going directly to the center. The evening's festivities were capped with comments from Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo who concluded his address by administering the oath of office to the Chamber's 2014 Board of Directors. Make sure to see the Sun Advocate's Thursday edition for a full account of the evening's awards and speakers.
