Emery gets 15-2 win avenging loss at home to Carbon back in March

In a rivalry, there's plenty of motivation to play well and be able to walk away with bragging rights over your rivals.

Carbon struck the first blow against Emery, handing their rivals to the south an 18-7 loss to open the 2014 season.

Over a month later, Emery got their opportunity to return the favor.

And they did.

With a flurry of hits just inside the baselines and a help from a number of Carbon High errors, Emery nullified the home field advantage with a 15-2 win over Carbon under the lights on Thursday evening at the Carbon County Softball Field.

Emery grabbed an early lead and never relinquished it. Carbon was able to get on the board with a towering two-run shot to left field by Lauren Rice to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

Emery added runs in the fourth and fifth before breaking out for 11 runs in fifth and sixth innings as the game ended on the mercy rule.

With the loss, Carbon is now 8-9 overall and 4-4 in Region 12 play.

The Lady Dinos will host Payson on Tuesday, April 29 and will also host Juab on Wednesday, April 30. Both games are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. at the Carbon County Softball Field.
