Dinos begin drive for home field in playoffs

As the regular season begins to wind down, the Carbon High Baseball team has no time to relax.

Not if they want to host playoff games in the 3A State Tournament.

Carbon helped themselves by picking up another Region 12 win with an 8-0 win over Juab on Tuesday, April 29. Pitcher Cole Fossat pitching a complete game shutout allowing just four hits while collecting 14 strikeouts, according to CHS Head Coach Bret Bennett.

The Dinos got plenty of help at the plate from the lineup including Fossat, Jarod Lessar and Dominic Rondinelli who combined for a number of key hits.

Bennett said the team also had a lot of sacrifice bunts and even utilized a suicide squeeze in the win.

The Dinos currently sit in second place at 7-3 in Region 12 play. Payson leads the region with an 8-2 record.

Carbon holds the tiebreaker over Payson by winning the season series 2-1.

Juab will travel to Price on Thursday, May 2 for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Carbon High School Baseball Field.

"We need to come out and continue to be aggressive at the plate to support the pitching staff," said Bennett.
