Panthers qualify athletes for State
Pinnacle uses strong performance at Region 18 meet to qualify six athletes for state meet
With each meet that came and went, it seemed like the same story played out before their eyes.
The Pinnacle High athletes would do well but end up just short of qualifying for the State Meet at BYU.
But that was put to rest after Pinnacle's strong performance at the Region 18 meet held in Blanding last week.
PHS Head Coach Tim Turpin said the Panthers were able to qualify six athletes to head to Provo this weekend for the State Meet.
The Girls 4x400 Relay Team which includes Raycee Birch, Nyet Rasmussen, Morgan Prettyman and Misty Bingham qualified for state. Turpin said the team ran in the relay for the first time all season and took second which qualified them for state.
'It worked out well for us," said Turpin.
Birch and Rasmussen also qualified in the 200 meter race and the 100 meter hurdles.
Valentia Motte qualified for the girls shot put event.
Huntter Sherman qualified for the 110 meter hurdles and the 200 meter race.
Turpin said the Panthers had a strong performance overall finishing in fourth place at Region.
Other Pinnacle athletes including Cody Dean Sanchez, Bingham and Prettyman missed out on qualifying in other events.
"I'm very proud of their effort this season," he said.
