Price takes valuable experience from Helper Tournament
The end result may not tell the full story of how a team performed and that's just fine for Willie Ellington and the Price American Legion Baseball team.
Price went 2-2 at the Helper Tournament, falling to Herriman (16-6) and St. George (4-2) but picking up an 8-0 win over Idaho Falls and a 6-5 decision in a game forfeited by Uintah.
"I think we can feel good about our performance at the tournament as a team," said Ellington.
He noted the play of Isaiah Martinez, Caden Sherman, Steven Zamantakis and a handful of others who stepped up and played well during the tournament. Sherman pitched a no-hit shutout during the win over Idaho Falls, according to Ellington.
Ellington is hopeful that the team's ability to keep games close will help them as the season continues.
"The team has a lot of respect for one another and we're confident that we can continue to play well from here on out," he said.
Price will return home on Friday, June 27 with a game against Judge at 6 p.m. at Carbon High Baseball Field.
