Jorgensen set for Heavyweight Title fight on Saturday
Carbon High School football coach Jan Jorgensen might have the upcoming football season on his mind but that will be put aside for a little while as he steps back into his career in mixed martial arts in a heavyweight title fight this Saturday in Orem.
Jorgensen (5-0) will take on Salvador "Killa" Sanchez (8-0) for the Showdown Heavyweight Title at SHOWDOWN FIGHTS 14 at the UCCU Center in Orem.
Jorgensen is coming off an eight-month break after his last fight against Eric Smith ended in a no contest after Jorgensen was poked in the eye. Jorgensen called the fight a "big wakeup call".
"I realized what it's like to lose," he said in a promo video for the fight with Sanchez.
Since the fight, Jorgensen said his fighting nickname of "The Saint" is dead. He has replaced that with a take on his own name "The Janimal".
Sanchez is undefeated with seven of his eight fights ending in a TKO victory.
With both fighters hailing from the state of Utah, the crowd is expected to be split in who they are supporting in the title fight.
