Crews continue to battle a fire just north of the town of East Carbon, using a type one helicopter and resources in the area from the Bureau of Land Management and the Utah Department of Forestry, Fire and State Lands (UDFFSL).

According to UDFFSL Area Management Officer Rudy Sandoval, the fire began around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and has steadily worked its way through the area's dry grass and brush.

BLM and UDFFSL fire fighters were already in the area as they have been fighting two other fires in the Bookcliff Mountains near East Carbon.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
