Barracudas return from Richfield with plenty of accolades

Over fifteen local swimmers participate for Barracudas, setting 40 of their best times at two-day Richfield Invitational event

The Castle Valley Barracudas finished off another meet filled with 40 of their best times at the Richfield Invitational on July 18-19.

The team traveled to Richfield with 18 swimmers for their annual 2 day invitational swim meet.

Barracudas had a great meet with 40 best times, according to Head Coach Kamra Davis.

To start off the meet Kaisha Lott, who has struggled to get any best time due to a leg injury, started her meet off strong with a best time in the 50 free with a time of 30.26 in 2nd place. Later she topped that in the relay by swimming a 29.10 in her 50 free leg. Lott also received a best time in the 100 backstroke (1:20.98) placing 2nd, and 100 free (1:15.33)taking home a 4th.

Megan Swasey received her best time in the 100 I.M (1:32.91) placing 7th, in the 50 free (36.27) Megan placed 7th, and 6th in the 100 free (1:18.58) which is also her best time.

Tyson Swasey received best times in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.08) taking the gold, best in 200 free (2:19.90) also a gold, in the 50 free (26.92) and 100 free (1:01.74) he placed 1st.

Zac Bowles swam in his first meet ever, he just joined the team less than a month a ago. Zac placed 9th in the 50 free (46.85).

Joseph Keller brought home the gold in the 100 breaststroke with his best time 1:13.37, gold in the 100 free also a best time :55.81, 2nd place in the 50 free (25.15), and 2nd in the 100 back (1:07.03).

In the 100 free relay on Friday Girls 9-10 relay consisting of Katelyn Bower, Karly Bowles, Hadley Bower, and Rebecca Swasey placed 2nd.

Boys 9-10 free relay also finished 2nd this relay consisted of William Stoddart, Grayson Johnson, Gabriel Ibanez, and Brock Johnson.

Girls 15-18 relay had to age up 3 girls just to have a relay but that didn't matter they placed a solid 2nd swimming in this relay is Veronica Ibanez, Megan Swasey, Nicole Swasey, and Kaisha Lott.

Boys 15-18 also with swim ups placed 2nd consisting of Tyson Swasey, Zac Bowles, Hunter Heath, and Joseph Keller.

Brock Johnson was our only boy competing in the 7-8 year old boy division he placed high in all his events 2nd in the 25 fly with a best time of 30.05, 2nd in the 50 free also a best 49.48, 2nd in the 100 I.M another best 2:06.44, 2nd in the 25 breaststroke with a best 31.99.

Katelyn topper her 9-10 division with a 1st in the 100 free (1:30.83 best time) and 25 breaststroke 25.05, and 2nd in the 25 butterfly (23.25).

Gabriel Ibanez had a strong showing placing 3rd in the fly(25.03), 3rd in the 100 free(1:38.52), 3rd in the 100 I.M. (1:57.71), and 6th in the 50 free (44.94). Grayson Johnson captured 6th in the 25 fly (28.79), 4th in the 100 I.M. 2:05.17, and 3rd in the 25 breaststroke 33.90.

William Stoddard having his best meet of the season with a best time in the 25 fly and placing 7th (29.02), and 5th in the 50 free also a best time of 44.63.

Hunter Heath the only boy competing in the 11-12 division held his own with a 2nd place finish and best times in both the 50 free (35.34), and 100 free (1:21.30) and placing 6th in the 50 butterfly(49.05).

Veronica Ibanez always places high in her meets with best times in the 50 fly (31.73) which she captured the gold and 100 I.M.(1:16.00) she placed 3rd, in the 100 free swim in first with a time of 1:08.36, and also a 1st in the 200 free(2:23.59).

Rebecca Swasey captured the gold in the 25 breaststroke with a time if 25.11, placed 5th in the 25 back (27.90), and 4th in the 25 free with her best of a 21.65.

Karly Bowles, also a newcomer to the team, placed 12th in the 25 back and 13th in the 50 free.

Dallan Dart swam 3 out of 4 best times finishing on top of the pack with a gold in the 25 breaststroke, 3rd in the back 24.35, 4th in the 100 free 1:39.26, and 4th in the 50 free 44.48.

Hadley Bower finished her fly in 5th 28.08, 50 free in 5th 52.64, 4th in the 100 I.M. 2:08.52, and 6th in the 25 breaststroke 31.50.

Kyanna Stoddart took 8th in the 25 free 28.02, 9th and her best time in the 25 breaststroke 40.01, 11th and her best in the 50 free 1:12.91, also 11th in the 25 backstroke.

Nicole Swasey picked up a first place finish in the 50 breaststroke 41.93, 2nd in the 100 I.M. 1:30.13, and a 2nd in the 100 free with a best time 1:21.01. On the 2nd day of the competition the relay team for the boys 9-10 medley captured 1st place with Stoddart catching the other team and just out touching them. Girls 9-10 relay also capture the gold. Girls 15-18 take 2nd place. The last relay of the day boys 9-10 200 free relay lap their competition easily winning gold this relay consisted of Grayson Johnson, Brock Johnson, William Stoddart, and Dallan Dart.
