As the season continues to progress, so does the Dinos' position in the region standings.

The Carbon High Boys Golf team traveled to Nephi to play their sixth region match at Juab's home course. Going into the match the Dinos were in third place as far as region standings, trailing Payson by eight shots.

After the match the Dinos are now in second place with a one shot lead over Payson. The team finished second at the match once again behind Spanish Fork.

Head coach Tom King said he was very proud of his players.

"They played well and fairly solid," said King.

Dillen Ward once again led the way for the Dinos shooting a five over par 77. Robbi Etzel shot an 80 followed by Blake Bean (82), Freston Smith (83), Nick Rukavina (87) and Dallas Anselmo (89).

"Our kids have always been told if we can shoot 320 or lower as a team we will do very well and they proved that today. If we could shoot 320 or better every match we would be in second by a long ways," King said.

Spanish Fork won the match shooting a 309. Carbon finished in second shooting 322 followed by Payson (331), Juab (337), North Sanpete (341) and Delta (348).

The Region 12 standings currently have Spanish Fork in first with a shot total of (1876), Carbon in second with a total of 1994. They are followed by Payson (1995), N. Sanpete (2035), Juab (2050) and Delta (2122).

Carbon High will travel to Fairview for North Sanpete's home match on Thursday Sept. 20 to play their final region match. After that match the top four teams in the region will qualify for state on Oct. 3 and 4 in Roosevelt.
