PRICE - Josephine (Jo Ann) Kissell, age 94, passed away on March 17, 2013 in Price.
Jo Ann was born in Palisade, Colo., to Frank Salobir and Rose Smith on May 16, 1918.
After her natural father died, Jo Ann was raised by Tony and Rose Kladock on the peach farm in Palisade, Colo. She later graduated from Palisade High School.
She married Howard E. Kissell in Palisade on March 1937 and they were married 48 years until the time of his passing in 1985. Jo Ann and Howard moved from Colorado in 1941 to Sunnyside where he worked in the coal mines. While living in Sunnyside, Jo Ann worked as a doctor's assistant for Dr. Frank V. Colombo and enjoyed working with his patients. She commuted from Sunnyside to Price for years while working for different doctors. She returned to Palisade for years to pack peaches during harvesting season with her brothers and sisters.
After moving to Price, Utah in 1976, Jo Ann was very active for years in the Naomi Chapter #13 Order of the Eastern Star and achieved the status of the Worthy Matron of the lodge. She also volunteered as a pink lady for over 39 years at the Castleview Hospital in Price. She was famous for her "Carmel Popcorn Balls'' which she donated to many church functions.
Mom loved to play bridge, travel to Wendover on the "fun bus", and she traveled to parts of the world with her friends. She loved to work in her yard and was a very methodical housekeeper. We will miss her donuts, chocolate cake, and Christmas pudding that she made for many of the family Christmas gatherings.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Heirloom Inn and Parkdale Care Center for their loving and compassionate care.
