Nicholas Thomas Martinez, age 74, passed away June 17, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 20, 1939 in Trinidad, Colo., to Benarde and Antonia Lujan Martinez.
On March 8, 1958, he married the love of his life Mary Louise Darr in Price.
Nick was a longtime resident of East Carbon where he worked at Kaiser Steel for 35 years. He loved working alongside his buddies and made many lasting friendships. He loved dancing, golfing, camping, fishing, deer hunting and most of all spending time with family and friends. Nick shared an immense love for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and he especially enjoyed watching his grandkids grow up. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his three dogs.
Nick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Martinez, East Carbon; son, Carl (Brandee) Martinez, Spring Glen; daughters, Nancy (Shawn) Yates, Brighton, Colo., Becky (Dave) Huey, Weston, Colo., Dianna (Randy) Marquez, FT. Lupton, Colo; cousin, Max Lujan, Sacramento, Calif; eight grandchildren, Nikki Lewis, Davin Martinez, Derek Lewis, Tylor Holstein, Morgan Martinez, Asa Huey, Garrett Pacheco, Josh Huey and Elijah Marquez, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Medina; three brothers, Eugene, Bobby and Joe Martinez.
Funeral service, Saturday, June 22, 2013, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. Family will be at Mitchell's Friday evening from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment; Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.
