Republicans pick candidates

Wednesday night saw the Carbon County Republican party pick most of the candidates that will run in this November's general election.

In the Carbon County Commission races, Jae Potter out polled David Kardelis for one county commission seat while Jake Mellor will be the candidate who will run for the County Commissioner Surveyors seat. He defeated Jeff Nielsen for that honor.

The candidate for Carbon County Assessor will be LaNell Denison and for Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood was selected.

There will be a primary vote between two Republicans for the Carbon County Treasurer's office, Thomas R. Jensen and Timothy Urbanik. That primary vote will take place in June.

Not settled yet is the three way run in the party for the Utah House of Representatives seat in District 69. Jerry Anderson, a Carbon County resident and the incumbent is being challenged by Christine Watkins also from Carbon County. In addition Bill Labrum from Duchesne County is seeking the nomination. The person who will run in the general election for the house seat will be selected at the Republican State Convention on April 26.
