The Sun Advocate has a very intriguing past. The paper which began in 1891 led the way for many papers to come including The Sun and The Carbon County News amongst others.
In the early days The Sun's publisher and The Advocate's publisher also owned the papers and they fought continuously on the front pages. In those days there was no editorial page; all comments were mixed with the news on the front page.
In the early 1930's the two papers merged creating the Sun Advocate. Other papers in the area have come and gone, but after over a hundred and ten years the Sun Advocate, now owned by Brehm Communications Inc. of San Diego, Calif. is one of the longest running community newspapers in Utah. The paper moved into it's newest building in 1997.
